The Money Tree is a big operation, its president told the breakfast crowd Thursday at the Chamber of Commerce breakfast.
Brad Bellville, the president of the Bainbridge-based company, said The Money Tree has 92 offices throughout Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Louisiana. It also has two car lots, one of which is located in Bainbridge.
Going through an assortment of slides introducing its employees and numerous aspects of its retail and loan business, Bellville said the company has $45 million in assets and $57 million in year-to-date sales.
The company, which was started in 1973 by the late Rudy Martin, also has 68 employees based in Bainbridge, with an annual local payroll of $2.4 million.
But aside from its numbers, Bellville said the one thing it is proud of is its relationship with the local community.
“We try to be very good stewards of the local economy, local county, because it’s been good to us. … We try to give back as much as possible,” Bellville said.
The Money Tree has been a major supporter of River Town Days, the now defunct Artsfest and other local events.
Bellville said the company processes approximately 10,000 to 12,000 loans a month; reconciles more than 100 bank accounts a month and the company’s mail department processes between 50,000 to 60,000 pieces of mail a month.
