4-H Archery Team competes at state

Decatur County 4-H’ers took aim at the Georgia 4-H Archery Compound Championship held April 24 and May 15 during the 4-H Target Challenge Weekend at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.

The Junior Team finished second place in the competition.

Team members were Kameron Landeen, Austin Birdsong, Mason Birdsong and Hill Olive. Team members received a shooting sports medal as well as a team trophy.

Senior team members competing in the competition along with the 3-D aspect of the competition were Sam Slaughter and Nolan Lovering.

Cloverleaf 4-H’ers competing were Perry Birdsong, Wright Cook, Brett Dobbins, Matthew Green, Brenden Greene, Aubrey Hand, Carson Harrell, Townsend Livingston, Savannah Padgett and Chason Webster.

Team members have been diligently practicing twice a week since October in preparation for the state contest under the guidance of volunteer coaches Rick Landeen, Steve Key, David Lovering and Lee Birdsong. Other team members unable to attend the state event include Parker Boyd, Steven Key, Mason Bland, McKenna Locke and Stanton Long.

The 4-H Archery Program is a part of the Georgia 4-H Shooting Awareness, Fun and Education Program (S.A.F.E.). The Georgia 4-H Foundation sponsors the program.
