Funeral services for Sarah Rucia Scott Connell, 92, of Bainbridge, were held Monday, April 12, at Bainbridge Church of God with the Revs. Perry Lamey, Dan Tomberlin and Robert Varnadoe officiating.

Interment followed at Calvary Assembly of God Cemetery with James M. Connell Jr., Jack Roy Connell Jr., Henry Connell, Brent Connell, Tommy Connell, Austin Trawick and Reggie Trawick serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Connell, Mickey Connell, Tommy Connell, Stevie Connell and Chris Gatlin.

Born in Decatur County on Feb. 5, 1918, Mrs. Connell died on Friday, April 9, 2010, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.

Mrs. Connell was the oldest member of the Bainbridge Church of God. She attended Brinson School. She loved her family and church and enjoyed cooking.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Grady Connell; one sister, Nettie Baxley, and two brothers, C.M. Scott and William H. Scott.

Survivors include four sons, James M. Connell Sr., Scott Connell and Jack Connell, all of Bainbridge, and Deese Connell of Chattahoochee, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Cox-Ware Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
