Funeral services for James Howard McAnnally, 78, of Donalsonville, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. at Salem-Seminole Baptist Church in Donalsonville, Ga., with the Revs. Andy Merritt, Lattie DeRoco and Bill Draper officiating.

Interment will follow in the church’s cemetery with R.J. Lindsey, Kalob Yanez, Andy Stewart, Lucas Phillips, Mike Yanez, Sam Railey and J.J. Pascual serving as active pallbearers.

Born in Huntsville, Ala., on April 22, 1931, Mr. McAnnally died on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at his residence.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising his farm animals, and playing the banjo and harmonica.

Survivors include his wife, Vera McMillan McAnnally of Donalsonville; six daughters, Glenda Jane Kilso and Wanda Harper, both of Hayneville, Ala., Barbara Railey of Ozark, Ala., Merita Phillips, Teresa Yanez and Paula Lindsey, all of Donalsonville; a brother, Melvin McAnnally of Cullman, Ala.; three sisters, Faye Harper, Elenor Gray Calvert and Kay “Kody” Lamont, all of Hayneville, Ala.; 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville is in charge of arrangements.
