Funeral services for Edwin V. Atkinson Jr., 52, of Colquitt, Ga., were held Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Kent Barwick and Dr. Carl Marshall officiating.

Interment followed in the Colquitt City Cemetery with Chris McAdoo, Gaylon Harrell, Matt Harrell, Ronnie Franklin, Greg Calhoun, Marty Kelley, Russell Womble, Andre’ Franklin and Courtney Moore serving as active pallbearers.

Born Dec. 24, 1956, Mr. Atkinson died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at Palmyra Medical Center in Albany.

Mr. Atkinson was the owner/operator of Atkinson Construction Company and Atkinson Farms. He was a member of Bellview Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Penny Atkinson of Colquitt; three sons, Edwin V. Atkinson III, Stephen H. Atkinson and Alex Slade Atkinson, all of Colquitt; one brother, H.D. Bailey of Reynoldsville, Ga.; three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Colquitt Funeral Home in Colquitt, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
