Funeral services for Hattie Frances “Mookie” Burke, 53, of Bainbridge, were held Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at Branchville Missionary Baptist Church in Colquitt, Ga., with the Rev. Harry Mitchell officiating.

Interment followed in the cemetery of Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church near Colquitt with Michael Turner, Tommie Henderson, Tyler Smith, Richard King, Calvin Henderson and Justin Burke serving as active pallbearers.

Born July 27, 1956, in Climax, Mrs. Burke died on Dec. 22, 2009, at her residence in Bainbridge.

Mrs. Burke attended Decatur County schools. She was a housewife.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, James E. Burke; two sons, Matthew Burke and Joey Burke, both of Bainbridge; a daughter, Lakeisha Burke of Bainbridge; five brothers, Carson Walker of Climax, Roscoe Walker III and Ralph Walker, both of Bainbridge, Lee Walker of Brinson and Charles Walker of Attapulgus; six sisters, Carolyn Stepney, Brenda Glaze and Lisa Bowden, all of Bainbridge, Ethel Walker of Vaxhall, N.J., and Pamela Walker of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, two stepchildren, four step-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
