Ruth Smith Lee, 77, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at her residence.

The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2016, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Mark Jones officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 908 S. Scott Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819.

Ruth was born December 30, 1938, in Homerville, Ga., the daughter of John Calvin Smith and Susan Emma Fulford Smith. She was a graduate of Waycross High School, Class of 1956, and of the Methodist faith. She was an avid gardener and loved baking cakes, pies, and cookies to share with her friends and neighbors. She dearly loved her family, doing for others, and helping in her church.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Jim Lee of Bainbridge; her daughters, Pamela Lee of Bainbridge and Melinda “Lindy” Reid and her husband, Joe, of Traverse City, Michigan; her sisters, Lucy Bell Jordan of Lakeland, Ga. and Helen Brown of Archer, Fla; her grandson, Justin Reid of Traverse City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
