A private memorial service was held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rebecca Willis officiating. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.

Marie was born June 18, 1942, in Brunswick, Ga., the daughter of Eugene B. Taylor and Lucille Medders Taylor.  As a young girl, she moved to Manchester, Ga. and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Manchester. She graduated Manchester High School in 1960. Beginning her 40-year career in optometry in 1968, she moved to Bainbridge in 1979. A long-time loyal and dedicated optical assistant at Bainbridge Vision Clinic, Marie adored her patients and was, in turn, loved by them. Innumerable clients in Bainbridge got their very first training in how to put in their contacts from Marie. The numerous lives she touched can never be accounted for.

She loved caring for her husband, camping, tending to her roses, and spending time with her family and her beagles, Tinker, Beau and Alvin

Survivors include her husband, Huey Thomas, of Bainbridge; her children, Scott Nalley and his wife, Denise, of Ringgold, Ga., Rhonda Farmer of Bainbridge, Troy Thomas and his wife, Jan, of Bainbridge, Todd Thomas of Valdosta, Ga., and Lori Claypool and her husband, Mallory, of Walton, Ind.; her sister, Dorathy Railey, of Acworth, Ga.; her brothers, Thomas Taylor, of Spartanburg, SC and Steve Taylor of Franklin, Ga.; and her 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Roy Eugene Taylor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one’s local hospice.
