Team showed balance in Friday’s win

Bainbridge High School quarterback Terry Lewis is pursued by Dothan High School defenders as he races towards the end zone for a touchdown last Friday night.

Bainbridge High School Bearcats head football coach Ed Pilcher thought his team played well offensively and defensively in their 34-7 victory over the visiting Dothan (Ala.) High School Tigers on Friday night.

“I thought we caught Dothan when they were down a little,” Pilcher said. “They had already been eliminated from the Alabama playoffs and it was their last game of the season.

“Terry Lewis, Damian Bouie and Tremain McCray all ram hard and picked up a lot of key yardage for us.”

Pilcher said he was proud that his Bearcats were able to move the ball effectively on the ground, even though Dothan’s defense was keyed to stop the run.

“Dothan lined up eight or nine players in the box against us but we were still able to gain yardage,” he said. “Our offensive line blocked well and our defense kept Dothan in check, except for one drive on which they scored. Dothan ran only 37 plays in the game.

“We came out of the game pretty good, injury-wise. Terry Lewis banged up his knee a little, but he should be ready to go Friday, when we host the Lee County High School Trojans in a Region 1-AAAAA game that will determine third and fourth place and playoff seedings.”
