Harris, Braswell 1st, 2nd at XC meet

Chase Harris and Paige Braswell finished first- and second-overall leading coach Lisa Enfinger’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats cross-country teams to strong finishes at last Saturday’s Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets Invitational Meet.

Harris finished the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course in a time  of 16 minutes, 11 seconds, to top a 104-runner field.

Braswell’s second-place time in the 89-runner girls field was 20:27. The girls championship was won by Ericka Taylor of Westover, with a time of 20:17.

Carson Inlow of the Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats cross-country team finished second in the two-mile 19-runner middle school boys field, in a time of 10:14. First place went to Price Autry of Douglas Middle School, in a time of 10:13.

This Saturday, the Bearcats and Lady Cats will compete in the Epic 5K Challenge, in memory of Dylan Faircloth, a former Bearcats cross-country runner who lost his life in a car accident.

It will get under way at 9 a.m. at Spring Hill Christmas Tree Farm. Five person teams will be competing.
