Services for Mrs. Vera Pauline Jones Kirkland, 86, of Bainbridge, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Bainbridge Church of God with Rev. Jaime Rivera officiating. Interment will follow in Oakview Cemetery in Donalsonville, Ga., with Zach Mclendon, Todd Weicholz, James Wright, Trevor Wright, Tommy Willis, Neal Haire, Travis Mclendon and Nathan Wright serving as pallbearers.

Vera Pauline Jones Kirkland was born April 11, 1925, in Early County, Ga., to William F. Jones and Vera Augusta Mulkey Jones. She died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital.

She married Brant Leamon (B.L.) Kirkland, who preceded her in death May 14, 2007. In addition to being a housewife and homemaker, Mrs. Kirkland was a gifted seamstress. She loved making quilts and working in her flowers. Mrs. Kirkland was a member of the Bainbridge Church of God. She loved her church and spent many hours reading her Bible.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son Lavin D. Kirkland; sisters, Louise Evans, Evelyn Temples and Margie Temples; brother Buddy Jones and three grandchildren.

Vera Kirkland is survived by her children: Joyce Murray and husband, Greg of Faceville, Lavada Parlor of Blakely, Ga., Donny Kirkland and wife Ann of Cataula, Ga., Catherine Drawdy and husband Buddy of Baxley, Ga., Stannie L. Kirkland and wife, Sandra L. of Sylvester, Ga., Brant Kirkland Jr. and wife, Lillian of Aiken, S.C., James Kirkland and wife Brenda of Aiken; Sybil Turner and husband Bobby of Aiken; sisters and brothers, Nellie Allison, Virginia Varnum, Alma Albercrombie, Robert Jones, Cecil Jones, Joseph Jones, all of the Atlanta, Ga. area, Betty Jean Fogle of Indiana, Frances Page of Dothan, Ala., and Martha Enfinger of Blakely; six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
