Funeral services for the Rev. Warren Thaxton, 79, of Bowersville, Ga., will be held Thursday, March 3, at 11 a.m. at Christian Worship Assembly Church in Hartwell, Ga.

Interment will be at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Bowersville.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Mack’s Funeral Home in Hartwell, Ga. Rev. Thaxton will be placed in the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday.

Born Aug. 31, 1931, in DeKalb County, Ga., Rev. Thaxton died on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, in Bowersville, Ga.

Survivors include his spouse, Bernice Stubbs Thaxton; his sons, JAE Thaxton, Ivan Thaxton, Gregory Thaxton, Ryan Thaxton, Wes Thaxton and Neil Thaxton; his daughters, Sydney Thaxton, Rhendy “Addie” Thaxton and Tina Davis Larkin; his brother, James Fluellen; and his sisters, Sylvia Bates, Brenda Ponder and Barbara Ann Shumaker.

Mack’s Funeral Home in Hartwell, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
