YMCA bowling tournament completed

The first annual Nine Pin No Tap Bowling Tournament was completed Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA’s Langston Gray Bowling Center.

Under no tap rules, a bowler is awarded a strike if their first ball knocks down nine of the 10 pins.

The top four finishers were Byron Graves, who received $500; Mary Rykard, who received $100; Gary Hamrick, who received $50; and Fred Stanley, who received $25.

Bowlers interested in taking part in the second annual tournament in 2012 must only bowl in at least three different tournaments during the year.

Events will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.

YMCA interim CEO Mike Haynes says Sundays are family days at the bowling center and that each family member can receive a free game of bowling during January by presenting a church bulletin for a same day service.

“We will also have additional Sunday specials,” Haynes said. “They will include our new rent-a-lane program on the first and third Sundays, which will allow bowlers and their friends and families to rent a lane for one hour at the low rate of  only $12,”

Those renting the lanes may complete as many games as possible in the hour of play and a maximum of seven people to a lane will be able to play at no additional lane fees.

“Come join our new Langston-Gray Bowling Center management team under the supervision of Jeff Kindelspire,” Haynes said. “Free Wi-Fi is coming soon.”
