Lady Cats defeat Randolph Clay, 63-58

Coach Kelvin Cochran’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats basketball team defeated the Randolph Clay High School Lady Red Devils, 63-58, Tuesday night in Cuthbert, Ga., to improve their season record to 10-5.

The Lady Cats featured a balanced scoring attack, with three players hitting double figures. Ri’Chana Jackson led the way with 18 points. Diamond Bouie added 15 points and Briana Wade put in 14. Takia Crankfield contributed eight.

Adruanna Blackman of the Lady Red Devils took game-scoring honors with 23 points. Whenekia Washington scored 14 and her sister, Karekia Washington, scored 10.

The Lady Cats led  16-14 at the end of the first quarter and 24-21 at halftime.

The Lady Red Devils outscored Bainbridge 20-15 in the third quarter, to take a 41-39 lead entering the fourth quarter. In the fourth, the Lady Cats outscored their opponent 22-17 to pull out the victory.

“We hustled and played hard all four quarters,” Cochran said Wednesday morning , in evaluating his team’s Tuesday night performance.

The Lay Cats return to action today when they travel to Colquitt, Ga., for a 6 p.m. game with the Miller County High School Lady Pirates. They will take on the Thomasville High School Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Thomasville, Ga.
