Middle school teams win 3 of 4

The Bainbridge Middle School eighth-grade Lady Cats and Bearcats won three of four home games this week at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum.

On Tuesday the Lady Cats and Bearcats swept Lee County Middle School. In the opener, the Lady Cats downed the Lady Trojans 37-29, and in the nightcap the Bearcats edged the Trojans, 32-30.

On Thursday, the Lady Cats lost 24-19 to the Thomas County Central Middle School eighth-grade Lady Yellow Jackets, while the Bearcats defeated the Yellow Jackets, 48-30.

Chelsea Elijah scored nine points and Alexis Russ added eight, leading the Lady Cats on Tuesday.

A layup off the left glass by strong forward Myles Thomas with just 29 seconds left in the game sealed the Bearcats’ victory over the Trojans.

Forward Tyree Crump led the Bearcats in scoring with 12 points. Center Teron Shaw added eight.

In their close Thursday loss to the Lady Yellow Jackets, the Lady Cats were paced by Rikita Hughes with four points.

Crump poured in 16 points to lead the Bearcats over the Yellow Jackets on Thursday.
