‘Drapery Man’ CASA golf champions

MEMBERS OF THE “DRAPERY MAN” golf team hold championship plaques they received after winning Saturday’s first Court Appointed Special Advocates For Children (CASA) of Southwest Georgia Golf Tournament. From left to right are Jack Duncan Nicholson, David Chalker, David Porter and Joe Putnal.

The four player “Drapery Man” team shot an 11- under-par round of  61 Saturday at Bainbridge Country Club, to top an eight-team field and win the first Court Appointed Special Advocates For Children (CASA) of Southwest Georgia Golf Tournament.

The winning team’s members were Jack Duncan Nicholson, David Chalker, David Porter and Joe Putnal.

The tournament, entitled Swing A Club For CASA Kids, was played under a best ball format with each team member hitting their second shot from the spot of the longest drive.

CASA executive director Nan McIntosh told the golfers she plans to make the tournament an annual event.

“Without the generosity of our sponsors and the participation of our golfers, this charity golf event would not have been possible,” McIntosh said. “CASA volunteers are people who care, just like you. They have the best interest of abused and neglected children who enter the court system at heart and speak for them at court hearings.

“They complete in depth training, undergo background checks, are sworn in by a judge and commit to keeping a child’s family story confidential. The continued golfers’ and sponsors’ support will help us raise the funds we need to continue providing valuable services to children in need.”
