Parent Volunteer Training Academy is Saturday

Parents who have participated in the Decatur County Board of Education’s initial parent volunteer training are encouraged to attend the DCBOE’s Parent Volunteer Training Academy, which will focus on specific academic areas in reading, math, Accelerated Reader and science. The academy is Saturday, March 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the DCBOE Support Center, 507 Martin St. (the old West Bainbridge Elementary School).

The schedule of the academy is as follows: General session, 8:15 a.m. to 8:25 a.m.; Breakout session I, 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.; Breakout session II, 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.; Breakout session III, 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.; and Breakout session IV, 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The breakout sessions will include topics such as science lab procedures, math facts using playing cards and dice, reading assistance and AR library support.
