Children and their families, about 150 people in all, had holiday fun at the City of Bainbridge’s Christmas on the Square event last Thursday evening, Dec. 17.

They took part in marshmallow roasting, tractor-pulled hay rides, after-dark Christmas shopping and carol singing.

Holiday decorations included lighted Christmas candles, toy soldiers and giant lighted versions of Santa Claus and Frosty the Snowman.

Leading the carol singing were young students from Grace Christian Academy and Potter Street Elementary School, which each performed a mix of several popular and original Christmas-themed songs, both religious and secular.

The Bainbridge Community Band holds its traditional Christmas Eve sign-along, which is sponsored by The Post-Searchlight, beginning at 6 p.m. in Willis Park. If it is raining, the event will be moved to Memorial Coliseum. An announcement will be on thepostsearchlight.com.

Four local churches—First United Methodist Church, Grace Christian Church, First Presbyterian Church and St. Johns Episcopal Church—will hold Christmas Eve services, all beginning at 7 p.m.
