Hutto Middle School held their spelling bee Dec. 1 with 16 students competing. They completed 13 rounds and faced many difficult words. After an hour of spelling, two students were left standing, Ronald Griffin and Corey Sibley, who was named champion after he correctly spelled “grammarian.” The top five spellers from the HMS spelling bee went on to compete in the district spelling bee on Tuesday, Dec. 14. Those students are Chiara Pallotti, daughter of Jessica and Franco Pallotti; Bianca Torres, daughter of Tiffany Copeland and Richard Calloway; Ronald Griffin, grandson of Melvia Reed; Chelsea Pugh, daughter of Brian Pugh; and Corey Sibley, son of Robert Sibley.
