Rounding out the strong Bearcat performances in Albany were Brock Merchant, who won both of his matches in the 160-pound weight class, and Cameron Fountain, who won both of his matches in the 171-pound weight class.

“This was a great performance and team effort,” Kirkland said following his team’s Albany performances. “Though we had to forfeit three weight classes because we just don’t have anyone to fill them, we still managed to pull our victories in the matches.”

The Bearcats return to action Thursday when they travel to Cairo for a 5 p.m. dual match with the Cairo High School Syrupmakers.

Friday they will travel to Thomas County for a 5 p.m. three-way match with Dougherty and the homestanding Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jackets.
