Bainbridge police have charged two men with trafficking in cocaine after an investigation led them to seize several thousand dollars worth of cocaine from a car associated with both men.

Collie Calloway, 33, of 1306 Fourth St., was arrested on the evening of Jan. 29.

Prince Terrence Scott, 28, of the same address as Calloway, was arrested around 11 a.m. Monday.

BPS’ investigation started after investigators received information that cocaine was being kept in the trunk of a car parked behind a vacant house at 1308 Fourth St., according to an incident report. Calloway told investigators the car belonged to a cousin in Attapulgus, and Scott also denied owning the vehicle. However, police had it towed it away until they could obtain a search warrant.

Inside the car’s trunk, officers found seven plastic sandwich bags containing crack cocaine.

According to an the report, BPS investigators have physical evidence tying Calloway and Scott to the car.

In a related investigation, BPS arrested Anthony Jarod Florence, 32, of 123 Spring Creek Road, in early January after investigators from BPS and the Sheriff’s Office found several ounces of marijuana on Florence’s person as he sat behind 1308 Fourth St. They later found about a pound of marijuana alleged to have belonged to Florence at a residence on Doe Run Place.

Both Calloway and Scott are charged with trafficking in cocaine, a felony.

Georgia law defines trafficking in cocaine as possession of more than 28 grams of cocaine. If convicted of trafficking in cocaine, a person could face a mandatory 10-year prison sentence and a fine of $200,000.
