Leslie McCord Bernier and Tommy Bernier announce the engagement of their daughter, Alex Collins, to Trey Byrd, son of Walt and Pat Byrd.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Horn of Bainbridge, the late Jim McCord of Roanoke Ala., Mr. and Mrs. Al Bernier of Bainbridge and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Haire of Colquitt, Ga.

Miss Collins is a 2007 honor graduate of Bainbridge High School, and a 2010 graduate from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. She is currently attending Florida A & M University in the doctoral program for physical therapy. Alex is also a certified Zumba instructor.

The future groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Harrison of Whigham, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alton Byrd Sr. of Climax.

He is a 2003 graduate of Bainbridge High School and is currently enrolled at Georgia Southwestern University, pursuing a degree in business administration. He is currently employed at Pepi Food Service.

The wedding is planned for Dec. 17 at The Business Exchange Building in Thomasville at 5 p.m. The reception will follow at Pebble Hill Plantation. Invitations will be sent.

Following the ceremony, the couple will make their home in Climax.
