Kylie McGlincy, who recently participated in the Southeastern United States Honor Band and Concert Band Clinic held at the John M. Long School of Music on the campus of Troy University, was awarded a four-year scholarship.

The annual music event highlights the talents of some of the finest high school band students, guest public school bands, and conductor/composer clinicians from across our region and the United States.

As a participant in the 37th annual event, McGlincy auditioned for the Honor Band chair placement and was selected as the first chair horn in the Silver Honor Band under the direction of Michael Nakasone, guest conductor and Bandmaster of the City and County of Honolulu’s Royal Hawaiian Band.

During the three-day event, she attended numerous band rehearsals and guest band performances featuring outstanding bands throughout the Southeast.

In addition, McGlincy auditioned for a Troy University music scholarship, and at the conclusion of the Honor Bands concert on Saturday evening, she was awarded a four-year scholarship.

“Kylie is one of the best students I have ever had the pleasure to work with,” said Ward Paschal, director of the Bainbridge High School band program. “She is an outstanding, well-rounded student who I am sure will be very successful in her chosen field of study.”

McGlincy is the 18-year-old daughter of Joe and Donna McGlincy of Bainbridge. She was recently selected as an outstanding senior and will graduate from Bainbridge High School in May. She will attend Troy University this fall and pursue a degree in music education.
