A goal by winger Miguel Barron, with an assist by forward Keenan Adams, in the 76th minute gave Coach Jamie Ard’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats soccer team a 1-0 victory over the Crisp County High School Cougars Tuesday night in Cordele.

There was a mad scramble for a loose ball in front of the Cougar’s goal and Barron and Adams fought to get on the end of a Hal Clement crossed ball.

The ball was loose in the box long enough for Barron and Adams to get their feet on the ball. Adams slid to the ball, got it to Barron, and he kicked it into the back of the net for the goal.

Coach Ard said he liked the way his team was able to play hard and pull out the victory.

“On paper we should have easily won the match,” he said. “That is why you play the match though. I give all the credit in the world to that Crisp County team. They were hungry for a win, and they fought hard to get it,” Ard said.

“Really, they outplayed us, and they should have won the match. We really stole a win from them, but sometimes that is what a good team has to do. They have to steal a win when they do not play and execute at their usually high level, and that is exactly what we did on this night.”
