Swine Time Princess Audrey Nicole Runnels, Junior Miss Swine Time Jordyn Raye Taylor and Little Miss Swine Time Sarah Kaylee Wynn got a first-hand look Saturday at what the 34th annual Swine Time Festival set for Saturday, Nov. 29, will be all about.

They visited a show hog at the Cloud Livestock Pavilion.

The festival, sponsored by the Climax Community Club, celebrates the hog industry that was a major part of the Climax economy through the years.

The late Earl Hester, a former Swine Time grand marshal and prominent Climax citizen, had a productive hog farm in the town for many years.

Community Club President Darlene Collins talked recently about the importance of the Swine Time court knowing something about the festival they will be reigning over.

“The Swine industry has had a major impact, not only on Climax, but on the southwest Georgia economy in general,” she said.

On Swine Time Day, the Swine Time Princess, Junior Miss Swine Time and Little Miss Swine Time will ride in the parade and be introduced on the dignitaries platform.

They will also walk through the Swine Time grounds, talk with visitors, and make them aware of the hog-related events that will be going on during the day.

“They have promoted the hog and its history well in several parades and festivals they have visited,” Collins said. “They are the Swine Time ambassadors.”

The majority of contests and events will center around the hog.

There will be a hog-calling contest, a chitterlings-eating contest and a greasy-pig chase.
