The following local Georgia Southwestern State University students have been recognized for receiving scholarships for the 2008-09 academic year:

• Hannah Logan Black of Bainbridge has received the Wheatley Leadership Scholarship. Black is a graduate of Bainbridge High School and is a freshman chemistry major.

• Brittany Brooks of Bainbridge has received the Pope Scholarship and the Wheatley Leadership Scholarship. Brooks is a graduate of Bainbridge High School and is a freshman nursing major.
