Conder wins area FFA speaking event

Meredith Condor of the West Bainbridge Middle School FFA chapter won the Area V Junior Prepared Public Speaking Career Development Event, which was held at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga., on Dec. 2.

Conder will compete for state honors at the 81st Georgia FFA State Convention on April 24 in Macon, Ga.

Jakob Thorn from the Hutto Middle School FFA Chapter placed third in the contest.

Condor, an eighth-grader at West Bainbridge Middle, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Conder of Bainbridge. Kaye Lynn Hataway is the West Bainbridge Middle School FFA adviser.

The FFA Prepared Public Speaking Career Development Event is sponsored by NationsBank as a special project of the Georgia FFA Foundation. The FFA Prepared Public Speaking Career Development Event is designed to develop agricultural leadership. Participants are required to write and deliver a speech on an agricultural-related topic. The participants are judged on content and composition of the manuscript, voice, stage presence, power of expression, general effect and response to questions asked by a panel of judges.
