Not only can members of the community take pride in the new Bainbridge High School, they can take part in it.

The Decatur County Board of Education and the leaders at Bainbridge High School are requesting photos from the public that will line the walls of the new high school.

What a nice way to involve the community in this special project, especially since the new school is a show place that is attracting a lot of admiring looks from other parts of the state and in some cases, other states.

The project wants to include a wide array of photos, but are tied to four specific themes.

Photos of old Decatur County high schools from years gone by are to go up along the administrative wing.

Along the hallways off the rotunda are old and new photos of the landmarks around Decatur County—the courthouse, Woodruff Dam, farm equipment, athletic teams and an array of other possibilities.

The lunchroom is seeking photos of old eateries in Bainbridge, such as Cohen’s, Brams and Anthony’s.

The educators finally want photos tied to subject areas such as English, science, clubs and sports.

Details of the photo art project were outlined in Saturday’s newspaper and it’s on The Post-Searchlight’s web site, www.thepostsearchlight.com, under the education header.

Decorating the new high school with such art is a nice idea, and opening the photo art project up to the public is the crowning touch.
