The Bainbridge team of Sutton Reece, Keenan Adams and Andy Jeter, representing the Tifton Skeet and Gun Club, won state runner up junior varsity team while competing for the Tifton Skeet and Gun Club in the recent Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) State Championship at Lake Oconee Shooting Range.

At Lake Oconee, Reece, son of James and Beverly Reece, Adams, son of Roy and Maggie Adams, and Jeter, son of Jeff and Lisa Jeter, competed against 150 of the best youth sporting clay shooters and teams from the state of Georgia. The team, from Lake Oconee, that won the state championship out shot the Bainbridge shooters by a mere three targets.

Their state championship runner up title qualifies the Bainbridge team to compete in the National Championships later this summer in Sparta, Ill. Last year there were 2,100 shooters from 35 states competing in various competitions at the nationals.

Their score was 238 out of a possible 300 total targets shot from 15 different stations in pairs of three or four from each station.

Reece, who was the high overall shooter for the junior varsity division of the competition, broke 88 out of 100 targets and has been named the junior member of the National Sporting Clays Association Georgia All-State Team.

The governing body of the SCTP is the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF), which is an educational and athletic organization that is the leader in youth development shooting sports programs and exists to educate school aged youth to the clay target shooting sports and to facilitate their continued involvement.

They facilitate it by providing, promoting and perpetuating opportunities to safely and enjoyably participate and compete in a high quality team based sport led by trained adult coaches focused on enhancing the personal growth and development of their athletes.
