Two beautiful young ladies who have both played country music before audiences in Nashville, Tenn., will be performing at the Earle May Boat Basin Saturday night.

Local favorite Leigh Mullis has several things in common with Nashville’s Danielle Peck, whom she will open for as part of Bainbridge’s Fourth of July Celebration. Like Mullis, Peck began taking an interest in singing and music at a young age with the support of her parents. Both cite a variety of music influences extending beyond traditional country music—for Peck, it’s a love of pop groups like the Pretenders and Gwen Stefani along her devotion to Johnny Cash. For Mullis, her band is as likely to play hard rock songs like Guns ‘N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child of Mine” along with country, classic rock and her own original songs.

Mullis, who just graduated from high school, has performed at famous Nashville music venues three times in the past 18 months and opened for country stars Aaron Tippin and Daryle Singletary last year. Fans may remember her opening for Jason Aldean at Bainbridge’s 2007 Fourth of July party.

Peck, who has two Nashville-produced country albums to her credit, performs regularly in Nashville, where she has played alongside other up-and-coming stars like James Otto and Whiskey Falls.

Since releasing her first album in 2005, Peck has had several hit songs and videos, including her new CD “Can’t Behave,” which is currently available online through iTunes and Rhapsody.com

So on Saturday night, expect to see and hear a treat as two rising music stars play a fun, energetic concert at the Boat Basin. Mullis will open at 7 p.m., with Peck following at 8:30 p.m. and what’s being billed as the largest fireworks show in Southwest Georgia starting at dark.
