The Bainbridge- Decatur County Chamber of Commerce recently named Apex Home Inspections the August Business of the Month.

Scott Brinson, owner and inspector at Apex Home Inspections was previously in the insurance business, while dabbling in construction.

“I would go into these homes and think this could’ve been avoided,” he said. “That is how this business came to fruition.”

Brinson now loves the fact he can now help clients understand the building science behind their investment. He said he makes a thorough effort to inspect every part of the house.

“I go from the ground up,” he said. “I start at the foundation then go to the crawl space, and if it’s deemed inaccessible I have a crawlspace robot.”

He also looks at the exterior structure and the roof, which he believes is the first line of defense, so he wants to make sure it’s in sound condition.

He then goes into the interior of the home and checks the doors, windows, electrical panels, water pipes, HVAC and duct work. 

Brinson said once he is done with his inspection, homeowners can expect to see the report the same day.

“I take a minimum of 300 photos and a video, because photos can only do so much justice,” he said.

Brinson knows there are multiple home inspectors to choose from, but he tells everyone to make sure they are getting a licensed and cerified inspector.
