Bainbridge baseball snags win against Lowndes

Bainbridge scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat Lowndes County 6-5 Tuesday.

The game was tied 4-4 with the Vikings (7-9, 0-2 Region 1-7A) batting in the top of the seventh when Sage O’Berry doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Despite falling down by four runs in the first inning, Lowndes tried to fight back, but couldn’t hold off the Bearcats.

Bainbridge got things moving in the first inning when the Bearcats scored one run when Colton Harrell singled.

Quayde Hawkins was the winning pitcher for Bainbridge. He went one and one-third innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out two and walking one.

McCage Pruitt took the loss for Lowndes.

Ivan Velazquez, Josh Beachem, McCullough, Hawkins, Will Beckham, Harrell, and Mike Conder each managed one hit to lead Bainbridge.

Bainbridge was scheduled for a doubleheader against Veterans Friday night.

The Bearcats will take on Cairo at home next Thursday. First pitch is 5:30 p.m.
