GBI arrests local man for child exploitation

Wednesday afternoon, GBI Officer Hank Day took out one warrant on Ijhal Jackson and arrested him for sexual exploitation of a child.

Assistant Special Agent in Charge Eric Schwalls said Jackson was arrested for a computer crime related to child pornography. Schwalls said they do not believe Jackson was the one filming the underage children. However, he was still viewing it and or distributing it, which is against the law.

The GBI was contacted after Jackson was reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Schwalls said anyone could report someone for a case such as this. If people knew Jackson was watching, they could have reported it, but also Internet providers could see Jackson’s history and may have reported it.

Schwalls said the case is still under investigation, but they have conducted a search warrant and are looking for any other evidence Jackson may have had.

Schwalls has not been with the Thomasville GBI for long, but he does believe this is the first child exploitation case they have handled in Bainbridge and will continue to update residents as the case comes to a close.

Jackson is being held at the Decatur County Jail with a bond of $4,050.
