The Bearcats took a pair of region losses in a doubleheader against Harris County last Friday, dropping Game 1 9-1 and Game 2 3-2.

Bainbridge watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in Game 1. Harris County took the lead on a single in the first inning.

The Bearcats struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Harris County, giving up nine runs.

In the first inning, Harris County got their offense started. Harris County scored one run when Ryan O’Steen singled.

Harris County scored four runs in the third inning. Daniel Miller, Cayden Frost, and Kaden Killingsworth each drove in runs during the inning.

Cole Mathis was credited with the victory for Harris County. He went four innings, allowing one run on seven hits, striking out one and walking zero. Tanner Colton threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Nick Barber took the loss for Bainbridge. He allowed six hits and five runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

Michael Conder led Bainbridge with three hits in three at bats.

Harris County tallied 12 hits in the game. John Moxley, O’Steen, Mathis, and Killingsworth all managed multiple hits for Harris County.

In Game 2, Bainbridge fell behind early and almost came back in a 3-2 loss. Harris County scored on a double by Daniel Miller and a sacrifice fly by Cole Stanford in the first inning.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Harris County pitchers struck out ten, while Bainbridge sat down four.

Harris County got things started in the first inning when Miller doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Ryan O’Steen was the winning pitcher for Harris County. He allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out five. Jake O’Steen and Miller entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Miller recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Harris County.

Cayden Sconyers took the loss for Bainbridge. He went seven innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out four.

Bainbridge tallied seven hits. Colton Harrell and Sam Boutwell each collected multiple hits for Bainbridge. Boutwell and Harrell each collected two hits to lead the team. The Bearcats didn’t commit a single error in the field. Ivan Velasquez had the most chances in the field with six.

Harris County was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Stanford made the most plays with ten.
