With the holidays right around the corner, Grace Christian Academy is well under way in preparing for their annual winter festival.

This festival is one of GCA’s biggest fundraisers and is hosted every year the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The money raised at the festival is used to improve the school campus. The money raised in previous years has helped remodel the gym floors, add retractable bleachers and purchase the GCA bus.

However, this year promises to be the best yet.

The festival will be Tuesday, Nov. 27 and begin at 4 p.m. The festival will include games, rides, concessions, sweet shop, treasure chest, live and silent auction and an art gallery.

The kids can ride the choo choo train, climb the spider mountain bungee, ride the wrecking ball, try the obstacle course, jump in the bounce house, take photos in the photo booth or try karaoke, pro golf, football, carpetball or cornhole.

When the kids tire out from the fun and games, concessions will be available. Dixie Dandy has donated Barbeque sandwiches. The menu will also include chicken strips, hotdogs, French fries and more. They can also satisfy their sweets craving by visiting the sweet shop.

The sweet shop has handmade goods for sale made by the GCA preschool and elementary school parents. These goods include casseroles, cookies, cakes and brownies.

The true event begins at 8 p.m. when the live auction starts. Some of the items being auctioned off this year are the newly invented bird chair from Hunter’s Edge, a one week vacation at a stone chalet in Dahlonega, Ga., a toy poodle, a handmade wooden swing and arbor, SEC tickets, George Strait tickets, and a dinner for 10 at Southwind Plantation.

There will also be a silent auction taking place, where approximately 100 items will be up for grabs, including class art projects, home décor and fishing trips.

For those who don’t win anything during the live or silent auction, they still have plenty of opportunity to try their hand at the treasure chest. For $20 they can buy a key to see if it opens the curio cabinet. The winner will find an array of jewelry from Bishop Jewelers of Donalsonville and Cairo valued at $1,500 a piece and pick their favorite item to take home.

Individuals can also purchase a raffle ticket for $10 and be entered for a chance to win a Franchi Affinity semi- automatic shotgun, a MacBook Air or a Louis Vuitton. They must be 18 to win, though.

Kids who still want to participate in a raffle have their own chance, when purchasing a wristband. They will be automatically be entered to win things such as a Ninjago lego set, a slime kit or an Acer Chrome Book.

Armbands can be purchased for $25 each at GCA beginning on Nov. 12. Raffle tickets are already available for purchase.
