Gymnast-a-Cats bring home hardware from Macon and Moultrie

The Gymnast-a-Cats had a successful weekend in both Macon and Moultrie and are now making room for their newest trophies.

They first competed at the Wheel of Champion Meet in Macon, where they competed against 14 other teams. Marbella Rich was the competitor for the Xcel Platinum Division. She dominated, winning all five events and first all around. The level 12 team took home first place team, due to the teammates individual successes.

Aubry Phillips won first place all around, first place on floor and second place on the vault, bars and beam. Emily Engram won first place on vault, third place on bars and the balance beam and second place on the floor and all around. Kara Overman placed first on the bars and balance beam and third all around.

The level three team also had a winning day. Anniston Brown placed first on the vault and floor exercises and placed second all around. Dhara Patel placed first on the balance beam, fourth on bars and fourth all around. Anna Claire Mock placed second on floor exercises, third on the balance beam and sixth all around. Beth Nunnery placed second on the balance beam and fourth on the vault. She also placed fifth all around.

Level four’s team had Lauren Godwin compete and place sixth all around, and the level five team won 12 medals due to Bailey Nunnery, Bansi Patel and Asha Vicker’s hard work.

The team then traveled to Moultrie, where the level one team won first place team. The team’s five-year-old star athlete, Colbie helped them gain the vicory. Colbie placed first on vault, bars, balance beam and floor exercises, making her first all around. Anna Carnes placed second on all four events and second all around. Kaylee Klesko also won first in all four events and first all around.

The level two team placed fourth in team competition, but still amassed 16 medals.

Level three’s team won 20 medals, with Anniston Brown winning first on floor and first all around. Dhara Patel won second all around and second on floor and balance beam.

The level five team, made up of Bailey Nunnery, Bansi Patel and Asha Vickers took home first place team.

The Xcel Platinum Team was also successful in this meet, with Marbella Rich winning second place on vault, bars, beam and floor exercise. She took home second all around.

Her teammate, Gabby Hardee took top honors after winning first place on vault, bars, beam and floor, giving her first all around.

The coaches at Murkerson were so proud of all the team and girl’s hard work and cannot wait to compete again soon.
