Bainbridge Public Safety arrested Michael Roland Jr. on Friday, Aug. 26 on the charge of Manufacturing Marijuana after finding four marijuana plants in his possession.

According to Investigator Mark Esquivel, BPS received a tip that Roland was growing marijuana in his bedroom at 119 W College St. When officers arrived on scene, Roland initially claimed that he had thrown the plants away in a dumpster and no longer had them.

“I said we’d like to make sure that its not there and he goes, ‘Hey can I talk to you all,’ and I knew he had it then,” Esquivel said. “We followed him in his house and he led us to a room.”

Once officers entered the residence, Roland showed them to a spare bedroom where they identified four plants according to the incident report.

The plants were seized by BPS and Roland was arrested.

According to Esquivel, it is believed that Roland was growing the plants only for his personal use as there was no evidence that he was selling the product.
