Three All-Region Bainbridge football players signed scholarships to continue their athletic careers in college Thursday.

Calvin Isom signed to Point University in West Point, Georgia, Russell Wheeler signed to Tusculum College in Tusculum, Tennessee, and Region Offensive Player of the Year Tyler Storey signed to Albany State.

Isom started as defensive end last season, totaling 67 tackles for the Bearcats. He also scored a 64-yard touchdown off an interception from Thomas County Central to help lead Bainbridge to a 34-16 win.

“It’s a Christian school, and that’s a big part of my life,” Isom said, going on to say the coaches and atmosphere of the school were great as well.

Wheeler started as tight end. He totaled 14 receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns. His go-ahead touchdown against Sandy Creek in round two of the State Playoffs gave Bainbridge the overtime victory.

“It feels like a good program for me,” Wheeler said. “All the coaches had a lot of enthusiasm. There is a new head coach. He really wants to get this program going.”

Former Florida Gator Jerry Odom was named Tusculum’s head coach in December 2015, and has Wheeler and his dad, Tom, excited to be a part of the program.

Storey led the Bearcats in receptions last season, catching 72 passes for 1,243 yards and eight touchdowns. He also served as punt returner, returning 17 punts for 175 yards.

“I like all the coaches up there,” Story said. “It fits me. I like it up there, and it’s not too far from home, so all my family can come watch me. I think I can do just as great there as I did here.”

Storey broke school records for most touchdowns in a season, most receptions in a game (9) and most receiving yards in a season.

Bainbridge coach Jeff Littleton said he was proud of all three players, and was excited that they were not only able to continue their football careers, but get a college education as well.
