The Bainbridge High School and Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats and Lady Cats cross-country teams were honored for their outstanding season accomplishments Tuesday night at the annual cross-country awards banquet at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
The middle school Lady Cats and high school Bearcats both won Region 1AAAAA championships. The middle school Bearcats finished second and the high school Lady Cats finished fourth.
Outstanding BHS runners were Bearcat Chase Harris and Lady Cat Paige Braswell. Braswell was Lady Cats team captain and Dexter Legace was Bearcats team captain.
Braswell also received the Dylan Reid Faircloth First Memorial Award named in honor and memory of a former Bearcat cross-country runner who lost his life in an in an accident.
The late runners mother June Faircloth, who made the presentation, praised Braswell for showing the same high Christian values, leadership and dedication demonstrated by her son.Varsity most improved boy and girl runner awards went to Austin Wade and Emma Griffin. Wade improved his time by five minutes, 17 seconds and Griffin improved her time by 10 minutes, six seconds.
Varsity boy and girl rookies of the year were David Brock and Ralyn Willis. Coach Enfinger praised them for the dedication and perseverance they demonstrated in turning in the best times of all new runners.
High school boys and girls coach’s awards went to Drevyon Banks and Jamia Powell.
Most outstanding girls and boys middle school runner awards went to Urriah Davis and Caleb Harris. Makayla Ingram and Zhakire Howard received the most improved girl and boy middle school runner awards and Chloe Enfinger and John Willis Maples received the girl and boy middle school rookies of the year awards.
Madison Wiggins and Caleb Swain received the girls and boys muddle school coach’s awards.
Bearcats and Lady Cats high school cross-country coach Lisa Enfinger and middle school cross-country coach Yvette Greene praised their runners for their hard work and dedication.
