I read with interest over the past couple of weeks of the management decisions made by the producer of Maker’s Mark bourbon.

To meet the skyrocketing global demand of Kentucky bourbon, the company announced the reduction of the alcohol level of Maker’s Mark by 5 percent, reducing the “proof” of from 90 to 80 proof. This would be accomplished by simply adding more water to each bottle, extending the yield resulting in more bottles produced.

Well, it only took about a week of fierce feedback from customers to make the producers of Maker’s Mark to reverse their decision and not change the makeup of the bourbon.
