Adaptive equipment available

The Southwest Georgia Library for Accessible Services provides much more than just reading materials for those who are blind and physically handicapped. The library also provides a variety of adaptive equipment for Southwest Georgia Library for Accessible Services patrons.

Adaptive equipment includes a Kurzweil Reading Edge Machine, which reads a printed page aloud and amplifiers for those who are certified as hearing impaired. The Decatur County-Gilbert H. Gragg Library carries JAWS software on one of its public computers. This software reads printed materials on the computer screen for blind and visually handicapped individuals.

Did you know that the Southwest Georgia Library for Accessible Services can place printed material into Braille for you? Simply contact the Southwest Georgia Library for Accessible Services for more information. For sighted individuals, the Southwest Georgia Library for Accessible Services has a DAAS Vision Simulator kit where persons without visual handicaps can develop a better understanding of certain vision impairments.

This is just a sample of the adaptive equipment available at the Southwest Georgia Library for Accessible Services. For more information, please call the Southwest Georgia Library for Accessible Services at (229) 248-2680 or 1-800-795-2680 or visit our website at www.swgrl.org/handicap.php
