Austin Miss Bainbridge Middle School, Bius maid of honor

Taylor Austin, daughter of Michael and Letitia Austin, was crowned Miss Bainbridge Middle School by Principal Marvin Thomas, highlighting Thursday’s Bainbridge Middle School homecoming festivities at Centennial Field.

Hannah Bius, daughter of Martin and Denise Bius, was honored as maid of honor.

The festivities took place during halftime of the homecoming football game between the Bainbridge Middle School eighth-grade Bearcats and Thomas County Central Middle School eighth-grade Yellow Jackets. Earlier in the day, a homecoming pep rally was held at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum on campus.

Miss Austin, who was escorted by her father, is actively involved in the Future Farmers of America Chapter, the National Junior Honor Society, chorus, talent search and Youth on Fire for Christ.

She is also a varsity cheerleader on the Bainbridge Middle School cheerleading squad, and an A honor roll student. She has received numerous gymnastic awards and three writing awards.

Miss Bainbridge Middle School attends St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church pastored by the Rev. John H. Wooden, where she sings in the teen choir.

Miss Bius, who was escorted by her father, is an A honor roll student, varsity co-captain of the Bainbridge Middle School cheerleading squad and president of the Future Farmers of America Chapter. She was nominated as Top Tiger last year at Hutto Middle School and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society.

She also participates in the Bainbridge Livestock Show Team, the Decatur County 4-H Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She attends First Baptist Church.

Other eighth-grade attendants in the homecoming court were Aliyah Pernese Jacobs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Strong; Kaitlyn Williams, daughter of Earnest and LaShana Williams; Haley Chandler, daughter of Lawson and Perry Chandler, and Kemyatta C. Jones, daughter of Monroe and Renita C. Jones Sr.

Seventh-grade attendants were Summer Kirkland, daughter of Wade and Nicole Kirkland; Andrecia Jackson, daughter of Alicia Bryden and Andre Jackson; Maegan Harrison, daughter of Stanley and Kristy Harrison; Shekeria Moye, daughter of Shemeka Moye; Hadley Barthel, daughter of Josephine Hadley and Samuel Barthel; Jenni Barber, daughter of Tony and Kaye Barber; Terra Faison, daughter of Willie and Linda Faison, and Haley Green, daughter of Don and Carrie Green.
