BHS alumni making strides

With the collegiate football season beginning to wind down, several former Bainbridge High School gridiron stars are continuing to play well for their teams.

Former Bearcat and current University of Georgia linebacker Darryl Gamble had two solo tackles in the Bulldogs’ 41-17 loss to Florida last Saturday, according to official NCAA statistics. Former Bearcat Nick Williams started the game at the position of outside linebacker and had an assisted tackle against the Gators. Seminole County’s Bacarri Rambo had one solo tackle and Early County’s Shawn Williams also played in the game.

Former Bearcat and current University of Arkansas Razorback Malcolm Sheppard had one solo tackle, one assisted tackle and one solo tackle for a loss in the Razorbacks’ 30-17 loss to Mississippi on Oct. 24. Sheppard played in the Razorbacks’ 63-27 win over Eastern Michigan last Saturday but did not record any statistics. Offensive lineman Ray Dominguez sat out against Mississippi buts played in the Eastern Michigan game.

Former Bearcat and current Benedict College quarterback Patrick Riley completed four of 11 passing attempts for 139 yards and one touchdown in the Tigers’ 21-16 victory over Stillman College last Saturday. He also rushed for one touchdown.

Riley was a big contributor in Benedict’s 28-20 victory over Fort Valley State University in Columbia, S.C. on Oct. 24. Riley rushed 25 times for 199 net yards and three touchdowns against the Wildcats. Riley also completed two of eight passing attempts for 50 yards in the win.

Former Bearcat and current Valdosta State University running back Mike Brown had five rushes for 22 net yards in the Blazer’s 62-27 loss to North Alabama on Oct. 22.
