The victim was a 29-year-old woman with a Havana, Fla., address. The victim’s brother reportedly talked with Public Safety Officer Toby Miller at the Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. The victim’s brother said he was in Bainbridge helping the victim “move her things” when he heard his sister and another woman, later identified as Moore, arguing.

According to the report, the brother stated he “watched the two argue and observed Moore pull out a knife and stab [the victim] in the chest.”

Soon after, a “be-on-the-lookout” dispatch describing Moore’s vehicle was put out by E-911. Public Safety Officer Brent Haire found Moore’s vehicle and pulled it over at the intersection of Scott and Water streets. Moore was taken to the ER and treated for cuts to two fingers on her right hand, according to Miller’s report.

She was later released from the hospital and transported to BPS headquarters for questioning. BPS Investigator Chris Jordan is handling the case but was not available for comment Tuesday.

Teen charged with prowling, drug charge

Dylan Cody Gilbert, 18, of 129 Chapman Hall Road, Bainbridge, was arrested Monday afternoon by sheriff’s deputies, who were investigating a report of a suspicious person.

According to a Decatur County Sheriff’s Office incident report, deputies had responded to the area of Chapman Hall Road, in the Black Jack community northeast of Bainbridge, around 1:30 p.m. Monday to look for a young man who was reportedly asking residents if they had change for a $100 bill.

Shortly after, a resident of Black Jack Church Road reported a young man was in her fenced-in back yard. The complainant stated when she confronted him, he asked if she could drink some water from a spigot. She said yes, but went inside and called 911.

Deputies made contact with a man, later identified as Gilbert, who admitted to trying to get change and stated he had been living in the woods behind the resident’s house due to being unemployed.

Deputies searched the general area where the man had been walking around and found a wet, dirty sock that contained zip lock bags with suspected cocaine, as well as a smoking device.

Gilbert was arrested after deputies learned he had told them he was someone else. The teen later admitted the sock containing the contraband was his, according to an incident report.

Gilbert was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, giving false information or false name and loitering or prowling.
