Lecil Freeman was born April 7, 1950, in Oakman, AL, the son of Winfred & Annie Mae King Freeman. He worked in the logging industry with Knight’s Forestry. Southwest Georgia was home to Lecil and his wife, Alice. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Donalsonville.

Outside of the woods, Lecil enjoyed fishing and cutting grass. Riding the lawn mower provided uninterrupted time to think about all the stories he needed to share. And “Puddin’ Pop” was a talker. He could spin a tale that mesmerized the grandchildren, and they loved it. When the children arrived for a visit, Puddin’ Pop always had a plan for something good to eat. He made biscuits from scratch to go with sausage, whipped up some pancakes, or baked a pound cake with plenty of “crunchy” on top.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Cloud Freeman; his children, Lisa Craft (John Smith) of Albany, Steven Craft (Heather) of Colquitt, and Elijah Freeman of Mississippi; his grandchildren, Nicolas, Taylor & Ryan, Rocky, Bethany, and Savannah; his great-grandchildren, Hunter, Bo, Creek, Kayleigh, Rocky, Sarah, Teresa, and JJ; his siblings, Shirley Hodges (Franklin), Carl Freeman (Donna), Earl Freeman (Diana), and Larry Freeman (Judi); and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, Lecil was preceded in death by his siblings, Terry Freeman, Billy Freeman, Tommy Freeman, and Nell Rackard.

Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
