It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard “Ricky” Paul Brunson, 57, of Quitman, Georgia formerly of Damascus, Georgia on June 7, 2024 at South Georgia Medical Center.

Ricky was a graduate of Southwest Georgia Academy and Valdosta State University. His first love was his black Mustang Cobra GT and drag racing. He was devoted to God and to his family. He loved his wife and kids and treasured his time with family above all else. Some of his most cherished memories were playing cards with his dad, playing baseball with Caleb, and Beyblade Battles with Daniel. One of his most memorable family vacations involved kayaking during the day and epic Monopoly battles into the night. Ricky enjoyed NASCAR and traveling to the mountains with his wife. He was inquisitive and needed to know how things worked. He had a thirst for knowledge and was a life-long learner who loved to impart his knowledge by teaching others. Friends described Ricky as a teacher with a calming, peaceful presence. Ricky loved life. He left his mark with his selflessness and dedication to do all things the right way. He will be missed but never forgotten by all who knew and loved him.
