Terry Wayne Palmer was born September 19, 1950, in Pelham, the son of Hubert & Virginia Gore Palmer. He attended Pelham High School and hit the road as a truck driver. He retired from Sharber Oil. Terry was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Pelham.
Known as “TP” or “River Rat”, Terry was a simple man who had a handle on the definition of true riches. He counted his home, his shop, and his golf cart as his prized possessions. Fishing and sitting at his picnic table enjoying good company were favorite pastimes. Terry didn’t require the latest & greatest or the flashiest; he was content with what he had.
Occasionally his sense of humor and filter, or lack of, would get him in a pickle. You never really knew what he might say, though it would be in good fun because Terry did not want to hurt your feelings. He loved an egg sandwich for breakfast, milk & cookies for his morning snack, and ice cream from Dairy Queen, which he had after every doctor visit.
Terry was strong and courageous. He faced many obstacles and overcame struggles like a champ. He never complained and fought until the very end leaving a testimony of victory even in the darkest hours.
Survivors include his children, Shane Palmer (Mindy) of Tifton, Robbie Daughtry (Stacey) of Brinson, Sandy Erskine, also of Tifton, and Brian Palmer of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Dylan, Blake, Kale, Madi, Bricen, and Careygan; his siblings, Vickie Ivins (Randy) and Janice Williams (Grant); and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Mary Sue Hall Palmer, and his siblings, Neadom Palmer, Don Taylor, Junior Taylor, and Dianne Pollock.
