The Earle May Boat basin was busy last weekend, as Florida B.A.S.S. Nation held its 2024 State Championship on Lake Seminole. The lake saw 106 teams, both Junior and High School, take to the water, teams from both Florida and South Georgia.

In the Junior class Caden Harris and Brody Allen, of Hendry County Bassmasters, won with an overall weight of 35.05 pounds over the two days of fishing.

In the High School class, Clayburn Reed and Parker Creech with Central Florida Youth Anglers came in first for overall weight, with a total catch weight of 43.21 pounds.

Representing Grace Christian Academy, Walker Brogdon and Perry Glenn came in third in the Junior class for overall weight, with a total weight of 31.15 pounds, while Skye and Luke Clements came in 20th, with a total weight of 6.90 pounds.

From the Bainbridge Bass Cats, Cole Henderson and Fisher Baty came in 10th in the Junior Class, with an overall weight of 14.69 pounds.

In the High School class, Caleb Logue and Hayden Reynolds came in sixth, with a total weight of 35.26, while Brennan Enfinger and Cy Taunton came in 28th with a total weight of 23.74.

“I think it was a great weekend,” said Florida B.A.S.S. Nation Youth Director David Driggers. “It was hot, but the kids did what they had to do to win.”

Driggers also thanked the City of Bainbridge for their support and hospitality during the event.

Crystal Hines, Community Affairs Director for the City of Bainbridge, stated that these tournaments are good for the local economy.

“We host these tournaments in the hope of spurring some economic development, whether they’re staying in hotels, or eating in restaurants, getting gas for the boat, for their truck,” she said. “Just the push in economic development that they bring with them.”
