Wylene Ouzts Harrison, age 89, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Memorial Manor in Bainbridge, Georgia.
Services for Mrs. Harrison will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 30, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate.
Myrtle Wylene Harrison was born December 25, 1934, in Cairo, Georgia, to James William Ouzts, Sr. and Annie Mae Miller Ouzts. She graduated Cairo High School class of 1952. She was an outstanding basketball player and was voted “Wittiest” of that class. She married her soul mate, Larry Dale Harrison. She and Larry have been married over 70 years. Wylene was a nurse and retired to begin working with her husband. She and Larry worked together running a service station/auto garage for many, many years. They were members of Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years. Wylene was a wonderful homemaker. She was a talented seamstress and great cook. She played softball for years and she and Larry enjoyed square dancing. She was generous and always ready to help. She and Larry enjoyed traveling. She was a wonderful grandmother, very protective, and attentive to her family. You always knew what she thought and knew you could count on her to be there when you needed someone. Wylene Harrison will be dearly missed by her precious family and many, many friends.
Wylene Ouzts Harrison is survived by her husband, Larry Dale Harrison of Bainbridge; daughter, Tracey Lynn Midler (Danny Wiggins) of Mexico Beach, Florida; grandchildren, James Weaver, III (Jonna) of Cairo, DeAnn Ansley (John) of Ochlocknee, Georgia, Michael Midler (Hillary) of Thomasville, Georgia, and Rachael Bell (Bob) of Madison, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Rivka Weaver, Siska Weaver, Leila Weaver, Joel Ansley, Maddie Ansley, Chance Ansley, Christian Ansley, Abe Bell, and Josie Midler; son-in-law, Jim Weaver (Kerry); brother-in-law, Mac Harrison (Patricia) of Donalsonville, Georgia, sister-in-law, Betty Ouzts of Cairo; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Dale Harrison Weaver, and siblings, A. J. Ouzts, Hilda Ouzts, Catherine Drew, Leroy Ouzts, J. W. Ouzts, Jr., Rufus Ouzts, and Gene Ouzts.
