Melanie Faircloth Hutchins was born on December 2, 1939 in Bainbridge to Ennis Grady Faircloth and Birdie Vera Faircloth.  She married Durrell Wesley Hutchins, Jr., and the two shared a life together for 49 years until his passing on July 15, 2010.

Mrs. Hutchins was a faithful wife, mother, and grandmother, and was faithful to the Lord.  She was of the Baptist faith and used her spiritual gifts of selfless giving and helping others.  She loved everyone with her whole heart.  Her passion in this life was cake baking, and she was often referred to as the “cake lady”.  This passion became her life when she became her husband’s caregiver for many years.  She was a true lady that never complained.

Melanie leaves a legacy of being faithful, loving, and serving to others.  She was the last of seven children.  She has several nieces and nephews with whom she was close and whom she cherished dearly.  She was a true servant of the Lord and took that very seriously.  She loved to laugh and often cracked a few funnies, as we call it.  Her life verse was Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  That was how she patterned her life daily.

Her daughter, Deanna, and her grandson, Wesley, lived with her and cared for her over the past few years as her health steadily declined.  The family wishes to thank Dr. Shawn Surratt and the staff of Georgia Cares Hospice as well as the family members who have stepped in to care for Mrs. Hutchins during her time of declining health.

Melanie Faircloth Hutchins is survived by her children, Deanna H. Ellis and Stacy Hutchins and his wife, Sherry.  She is also survived by their grandchildren, Lindsey Ellis (Adam), Austin Ellis (Alyssa), Wesley Morrow, Shelby Clements (Tracy) Sydney Trawick (C.J.), Tyler Hutchins (Andrea), and Madison Bailey (Anderson).  She is survived by her great-grandchildren, Bryson Floyd, Grace Ellis, Macy Ellis, Amelia Hutchins, Audrey Hutchins, Harper Bailey, and Noah Bailey.

Mrs. Hutchins was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her son, Gordon Hutchins.
